2013 Pinot Noir

The 2013 vintage began late with a cold spring, and wet early summer. At veraison, all changed, sunny days with clear mild nights, some days were 100 degrees with 50 degrees at night. Harvest was mid October with warm days and some night close to freezing. This made a very unique Pinot Noir, higher in alcohol than 2012, but packing a strong spicy finish with white pepper, this wine pairs well with dark chocolate, or caramel candies, good friends and a roaring fire under the stars. Winemakers favorite pairing: Pellet stove smoked Loin of Pork, drenched with Portobello Mushroom saute, over country egg noodles, sided by fresh sugar snap peapods cooked but left crispy.
