2014 Tempranillo
2014 was the longest and warmest growing season on record since 1999. From early in March through October the weather stayed warm with cool nights and very little rain, making for an early harvest at the end of September. This Tempranillo came in at 14.5 % alcohol. Very big very tannic, and yet well balanced with a perfect blend of American and French oak. This vintage would meet the criteria as a Gran Reserva in Spain. Definitely can stand alone by the glass, deep plum and chocolate, rich bouquet, with a thick Tempranillo finish. This wine pairs well with grilled meats. Winemakers pairing: Rack of lamb grilled medium, brown rice pilaf, sautéed carrots. Dessert, Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream ala mode.
